Carer Support Groups in Highland
Anyone who has a friend or relative who has memory problems or any illness causing dementia at home, at a distance or in a care home will be welcome.
The groups exist because Carers sometimes need:
- Company
- To meet with people who understand their situation
- Time out from the caring role
- Information about services
- Advice and support
- To make their needs known to service providers.
The groups’ main purpose is to provide times when carers can get together to offer mutual support and friendship. Sometimes speakers, outings or relaxation therapies are organised, and carers are given opportunities to be involved in public consultations.
Dementia Carers’ groups are faciltated throughout the region.
Transport can be available to allow carers to attend meetings.
There is also an email carers’ support group.
All the groups welcome new members.
