Lanarkshire Dementia Resource Centre
Posted 21 September, 2012
Alzheimer Scotland are building a new Dementia Resource Centre in the heart of Lanarkshire to provide vital support services for anyone affected by dementia throughout Lanarkshire. To ensure this centre is the best it can be we are embarking on a large scale fundraising campaign and we need your support.
New Centre taking shape
How this new centre will help
The Resource Centre will be the central location for all Lanarkshire Services to be managed from. People can drop in at any time and talk to staff about their memory worries, obtaining a diagnosis, life after diagnosis, accessing services, support when long term care is an issue and beyond. There will be a wealth of local and national resources. There will be opportunities for education and support sessions for people with dementia and their carers, adopting the 5 Pillars of Post Diagnostic Support.
Support Workers and other staff will be trained using the Centre’s training room in line with the Promoting Excellence Framework and we are also hoping to offer the training room to other partner agencies for their training needs too.
The centre will be the first of its kind in Lanarkshire and co-incidentally will fit in nicely with “Making Motherwell Town Centre more Dementia Friendly” a new initiative launched on World Alzheimer’s Day, 21st September.
